Thank you to everyone who made the Fair Ave Elementary Mural Project a wonderful success!
This mural was designed by Fair Ave Elementary students with the theme of “Preparing for a Better Future”. On the far right hearts grow in a forest full of woodland creatures. As we move to the left, kids spread the love to the entire community. It is located on the street-facing wall of the auditorium, where the whole community can enjoy it.
A special shout out to the to the Office of Paul Kerkorian, City Council President, the North Hollywood North East Neighborhood Council and the Los Angeles Department of Arts and Culture for their incredible financial support. A huge hug to the Fair Ave staff, as well as the folks at LAUSD, that made the permitting possible. The 100 volunteers and neighbors that came out in the heat made this mural event especially sweet.
We are immensely grateful to the LA Department of Cultural Affairs for funding our mural painting workshops and the ribbon-cutting event. Participants were able to learn the essentials of preparing a wall for the art, transferring the art, detailing and proper clear coating. Fun Fact: Muralism Executive Director, Ernie Merlán, was a student at Fair Ave Elementary during his formative years. |

Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we reflect on the past few months, our hearts are filled with gratitude for your unwavering support. Together, we have accomplished some incredible feats, bringing art and community spirit to Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties. We are thrilled to share the highlights of our recent projects, including a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at Fair Ave Elementary, the fantastic media coverage for the Carpinteria Chalk Walk and 12 murals at local schools.
In times of economic uncertainty, nonprofits like ours often face increased financial challenges. We are currently in urgent need of funding to continue our essential work. This year, we need to raise $70,000 to meet our budgetary needs. We not only help prepare our artists with the skills to paint professional murals, we prepare them to teach the craft of mural making to others. Our mission extends beyond creating vibrant murals; it is centered on empowering individuals with disabilities through comprehensive training and fair compensation. Artists earn based on their level of skill. Our goal is for them to learn more in order to earn more. Steady pay checks mean they can earn a living. To fully realize this vision, we need significant support to develop and enhance our training resources.
Join us as we celebrate these successes and building a better future. Thank you for being an essential part of our Muralism family. Your dedication and enthusiasm inspire us every day to create meaningful art that connects and uplifts our community. Thank you! Ernie Merlán Muralism Founder |

This summer, we have been busier than ever, working on 12 murals for the Los Angeles Unified School District! |

Practice makes perfect, and you can see the results in the murals our crew has produced this summer. The crew is honing their skills and providing beautiful, high-quality work with refined detail faster than ever before.
Muralism Artists with disabilities teach the next generation. 100 students get the opportunity to learn new art skills at every school that we paint a mural. 1200 kids worked side-by-side with our artists so far this year. Muralism artists provided everything from the know-how and the paint to aprons and the brushes. We are grateful to the principals and staff of these amazing schools for the opportunity afforded to our crew to enhance their skills in art and communication.

Muralism hosted the Carpinteria Chalk Walk for the third year!
This year, in partnership with the Carpinteria Art Center, we helped local businesses create their own logos in chalk. Muralism artist drew black outlines of 50 business' logos and customers were provided with free chalk to fill in the colors. Besides the promotional chalk art, this event attracted 383 participants that covered the streets of Carpinteria in beautiful art.
News Channel 3 featured our artists Jake Riess and Tiana Fazio along with our esteemed Board member Teresa Fazio, who talked about the impact of the Muralism mission. |
